The Northern Tikes – Toddlers 18 Months to 30 Months
Our Goal in the Northern Tikes Room for Toddlers
The ones and twos class is the older side of the Northern Tikes room. The toddler area provides care for children between the ages of 18 months up to 30 months (if needed) depending on your child’s growth and development. Some of the fun things we do during the day include: songs, dancing, games, numbers, colors, shapes, art projects, play dough and story time! The children also have a set “downtime” where they can have quiet/ nap time. In the ones and twos classroom we will provide a loving and secure place for your child to learn, play and have fun!
The Northern Tikes Atmosphere
In this room there are 12 children and 3 teachers. When your child moves to this room they are transitioning from a crib to a cot for nap time. They also will go from sitting in a high chair to sitting at a toddler size table and chairs for mealtimes. Your child will learn self-feeding with a plate and utensils. At this stage of development your child will be very curious and want to explore his/her environment. We provide a fun and safe place for this to occur.
Our Approach for Toddlers
We do follow a weekly lesson plan that is developed to meet educational and developmental needs of this age group. Concepts include large and small muscle development, interest in exploration, socialization, sensory and motor skills and language development to name a few! These areas will promote your child’s interest and stimulate their curiosity.
